Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins within the US and Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She is currently a sportscaster for ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. Her first assignment with ESPN in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta Collins has been a bilingual since she was nine years old a useful ability that allowed her to secure her first job working as an assistant to the producer for Univision in Miami and allowed her to be a part of the production team for national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was later hired as a reporter by the CBS station as the sports reporter. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories related to the trafficking of drugs and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was an anchor on KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm. She was as a reporter for news with a news anchor in English at 9 pm and then a news anchor for 10pm, before returning to channel Spanish channel. Her duties as an anchor for sports or weather were often asked for. Later, she was anchor and reporter on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She also served as the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports show). Antonietta Collins was born and raised in the city of Veracruz, Mexico. The family were moved to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. She is the older sister. They divorced shortly thereafter in 1995. Her mother was remarried to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. The holiday in the summer that she lived with her younger sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered an employment. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school and was very aware of what she wanted to do in her future career. She went to Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. It turned out that she liked the campus as well as the fact that it offered the major she wanted. She finished school and attended the university with a media studies major. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU in which she is a member. They developed a close friendship. He was the one who boosted her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm in Journalism touched her deeply. In turn, she strived to fulfill his expectations always delivering on time.
